Ocktoberfest 2023- Munich, Germany
It was a cloudy and wet day at the Ocktoberfest. The event is a little bit of everything for everyone. The rain didn’t keep the festival from carrying on. There is merriment at every corner. Beer poured freely from evert tent. Many were dressed in genuine german attire. It was a great time.
In addition to an extensive beer garden, there are numerous carnival rides and a food fair. It is a unique event, and there are so many vendors and food options that you will not be disappointed. From the perspective of a solo traveler, I felt safe at all times, and locals and tourists were friendly and welcoming.
Hilton Munich Park
As many of you know, just because a hotle has the name “park” in it does not necessarily mean there is a park. Hilton Munich Park is not in this class. The hotel is beautiful, the lobby bar is inviting, and the walking park has so much to offer; even to visitors.
My favorite portion of the park is the surfing area. Although I do not surf, I loved that community members could surf in the river running through the community and the park.

Germany is a unique country. The contrasts of the different areas of the country are evident. While Warnemunde was warm and inviting, Munich’s history of celebrations, and relaxed living, is alluring. Hamburg is a hustle and bustle of one of the busiest ports in Europe. Of the three cities Hamburg made me the most uncomfortable to travel through. The train station specifically is not recommended for a female solo traveler. Especially on trains that travel and arrive during the late hours. Police were constantly whistling and each stop and walking through the trains. At the train station, there were so many people and I was followed out of the train station and had to return to the crowds until my Uber driver arrived.
