Must See

The Blue Lagoon is a pleasure to the senses. It is difficult to describe to those who have not partaken in the ancient practice of soaking in soothing mineral blue waters heated from the depths of the Earth. For those who have, the experience is generally a small pool. However, the Blue Lagoon is acres of naturally heated water.

Lava Flow from July 2023

On July 10th, 2023, a volcanic eruption rocked Iceland about 30 km from the capital, Reykjavik. Hikers were in the area, but no one was injured. I was visiting in September, and the lava flow had stopped. It was great to see the newly formed land for myself.

Strokkus Geyser

Strokkur is known for its powerful eruptions, which shoot hot water and steam high into the air every few minutes. It is a popular attraction for visitors. If you ever get the chance to visit Iceland, it’s definitely a sight to see! πŸŒ‹πŸŒŠ It is a sight to behold and jolting each time. It is as if you can feel the pressure being released from beneath your feet.

WHERE THREE TECTONIC PLATES CONVERGE

GAME OF THORNS IN THE FLESH

🌍 Iceland is located right on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. This makes Iceland a hot spot for geological activity. The plates are constantly moving apart, causing volcanic activity and the formation of new land. It’s pretty cool to think you can see the effects of plate tectonics in Iceland! πŸŒ‹πŸ—ΊοΈ
